The third Kiwi Challenge scrimmage was held at Kristin School on May 10. It was attended by 25 teams representing ten different schools and clubs. The eliminations were played by eight alliances of two teams. Once again the alliance of 7757Z (Kiwitech) and 2906A (Long Bay College) won the event, this time as the rank 1 alliance. The finalists were the rank 2 alliance, 7757N (also Kiwitech) and 2906D (also Long Bay College).
The Tic-Tac-Topple metagame continues to shift. Lines were scored less often than last week, but they were an even bigger part of teams’ strategy. Teams were aware of their importance and so descored them as quickly as possible – descoring a goal that is part of a line is one of Tic-Tac-Topple’s most efficient point swings. For this reason teams often try to complete the line nearest to their alliance station and defend it.
Thank you to Kristin for hosting! The next event is the regionals on 17 May at Massey University.
