Saturday 1 December saw the first ever New Zealand VEX Robotics College Competition event held outside of Nationals. With students attending from University of Auckland, Massey University (Albany and Palmerston North Campuses), Auckland University of Technology (AUT), Manakau Institute of Technology (MIT), and University of Canterbury (UC), it was easily the largest college event held in the country. Unfortunately, there were only 6 robots (3 alliances worth) present – 4 robots from AURA, and 2 from FEAR (Massey Palmerston North). Nevertheless, we played some good games and everyone had some good fun! It was a good opportunity for us to test our robot designs for the seasons, and reflect on what we’d developed over the year. It was also a good networking opportunity for our students to meet others with similar interests, as well as lecturers and engineers from industry.
